We had the pleasure of interviewing our serial entrepreneur BOSS Shawn Stewart Camps located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Let’s see what she has to say!

Tell us about yourself!

Hey Friends! I am Shawn Stewart Camps, a 40ish-year-old wife living in Rock Hill, South Carolina. I am the owner of a drug testing center, a clinical laboratory, and a credit restoration company. I am also a published author, South Carolina Surety Bondsman, and a Loan Signing Agent. I love reading (I own over 600 books) and traveling. I love people but more importantly, I love life.

Why did you choose the profession you are in?

I started repairing credit for others after I repaired my own credit. I did not adequately budget and spent money on whatever I wanted (which did not include bills). After working with other credit repair companies and seeing very few results, I took matters into my own hands. I researched, took credit courses, and signed up for classes to learn the laws. Within 6 months, I had a few clients and my credit repair company was born.

Once my credit repair company was up and running, I added other streams of income. I had been a notary since 2002 and learned that there was a need for Loan Signing Agents; I became one. In 2021, I became a certified Department Of Transportation specimen collector and opened a drug testing center. Upon opening the center, I applied and obtained my laboratory director license. As you can see, I wear many hats. I do it all because I love helping people. If there is a need and I have the skillset and time to fulfill it, I will.

If you can name one person that helped you get to where you are now, who would that person be and how did they help you?

Charlie Camps, my husband. No matter what I decided to do, he is always there. Charlie is very supportive and helps in any way he can. From putting the addresses on envelopes for my credit repair clients to answering the telephones at the office. When I was working late nights and early mornings, he took over the household duties. Charlie became a certified specimen collector so he could assist me in the drug testing center. He does a lot behind the scenes so I can do what I need to do. Without him, I wouldn't be who I am.

Who or what is your number one motivator and why?

Seeing my mom work hard for a company that only cared about production made me realize that jobs are a way to fund your true desires. There's nothing wrong with working a job but for me, I wanted a career and now I have that.

If you could give a piece of advice to someone who aspires to become an entrepreneur, what would your advice be?

Don't do it for the money.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love to read!
